Cruise ships are turning the tide on epicurean adventures. Gone are the days of mass-produced baked Alaska and never-ending sub-par buffets. Instead, master chefs are focusing on quality ingredients and the latest gastronomical trends. These luxury cruise ships are known for their gourmet cuisine and innovative approaches on delicious dishes, so if you are a foodie, consider sailing on Seabourn, Silversea, or Oceania.
Thanks to a partnership with Thomas Keller – the renowned chef of Michelin starred restaurants The French Laundry, Per Se, and Bouchon – Seabourn is raising the bar on its already award-winning cuisine. Keller’s team uses only the finest quality ingredients in a range of dishes from appetizers to entrees to desserts. “There is really no chef more accomplished or held in higher esteem than Chef Keller, and we are both honored and delighted to have a restaurateur of his stature take our onboard culinary offerings to an even higher level,” said Seabourn President Richard Meadows. Led by The Thomas Keller Restaurant group’s Chef de Cuisine Devin Knell, Seabourn’s culinary team will take part in extensive educational sessions and training on a host of gourmet dining options complemented by fine wines. Expect to find dishes such as Medallions of Elysian Fields Farm Lamb and Seared Jumbo Scallops on Potato Shallot Cake.
Silversea Cruise Line has implemented several enhancements to their already out of this world dining experiences. Guests are welcomed aboard with chilled champagne and Ars Italica caviar, which is available 24 hours a day. This noteworthy dish is just one of the top-grade ingredients that sets Silversea’s onboard dining apart from other cruise ships. Foie gras, truffles, tiger prawns and macarons are all of the highest quality. The cruise line recently announced a new culinary enrichment program: Sea and Land Taste. The immersive culinary experience will include ship-based and shoreside experiences such as market trips, food, and wine tastings and cooking classes. S.A.L.T will be inaugurated with the launch of Silver Moon in 2020.
Oceania Cruises is already recognized as the world’s leading culinary and destination focused cruises line, so it should come as no surprise that the cruise line expanded their focus by unveiling the most extensive and creative plant-based menus at sea. As healthy eating trends continue to rise, cruise lovers will be delighted with Oceania Cruise’s newest OceaniaNEXT innovation which will include more than 200 new healthy menu selections. “These new plant-based options are flavorful, colorful, bold, and creative,” stated Bob Binder, President & CEO of Oceania Cruises. A few of the new menu items include Korean Kimchi Soup and Crespelle alla Fiorentina with Spinach, Mushrooms, and Tomato Sauce. This new and innovative initiative joins the ship’s latest exclusive Dom Perignon Experience at La Reserve. This first of its kind dining experience pairs six palate piquing courses with a different expression and vintage of Dom Perignon’s acclaimed vintages.
