Featured Sailings is an LCN look at one line’s current published program. This is a selection, not the full list: these are the 2027 voyages that stand out to us on Mitsui Ocean Cruises’ sailings page, with dates, ports and fares as the line publishes them. The source page is linked at the end and was checked October 5, 2026.
Mitsui Ocean Cruises calls its style of Japan cruising “funatabi,” beautiful encounters with Japan, one memorable port at a time. The 2027 program runs February through September and leans into seasonal Japan: snow festivals, cherry blossoms, Golden Week, summer fireworks and early-autumn island hopping. Most voyages are round-trips from the Tokyo Bay area, with a few one-way routes between Japanese ports.
Six nights round-trip from Yokohama, calling at Tomakomai for two days timed to Hokkaido’s winter landscapes and the famous Sapporo Snow Festival, then Sendai and seaside Oarai. From $4,500 USD per person.
The longest voyage on the page at 12 nights, and the one that goes furthest: Sasebo and Busan, then Sea of Japan ports including Tottori, Wajima and Ryotsu on Sado Island, around to Oga, Iwanai and Hakodate on Hokkaido before returning to Yokohama. Traditional towns and late-season cherry blossoms are the draw. From $9,000 USD per person.
Two departures bracket Japan’s Golden Week holidays. Golden Week Southern Isles & Historic Ports (April 28 to May 6, from $6,000 per person) calls at Miyazaki, Nishinoomote on Tanegashima, Koshikijima and Kure. Golden Week: Northern Honshu & East Sea Explorer (April 30 to May 10, from $7,910 per person) heads the other way, to Nemuro and Tomakomai on Hokkaido, Akita, Toyama and Sokcho on South Korea’s east coast.
Fireworks & Southern Japan Coastal Journey (July 21 to 30, from $7,120 per person) strings together Miyazaki, Yakushima, Unzen Obama, Beppu, Himeji and Shingu, highlighted by coastal towns, island scenery and a special fireworks call. Shimonoseki Fireworks and Awa Dance Festival (August 9 to 18, from $7,120 per person) pairs Komatsushima’s exuberant Awa Odori folk dance festival with Shimonoseki’s Kanmon Strait fireworks, plus a call at Jeju Island and a passage along the sacred Kumano coastline.
The shortest and lowest-priced sailing on the page: four nights from Tokyo to Shodoshima and Shingu, ending in Yokohama, through the Seto Inland Sea’s artful islands, olive groves and traditional towns. From $3,000 USD per person.
The next departure listed sails this year: Coastal Japan Christmas, December 17 to 25, 2026, from $5,795 per person, from Yokohama to Nagoya, Kobe, Beppu, Sasebo, Busan and Shimizu. The line says 2028 itineraries have not been announced.
A hand-selected shore experience with an English-speaking guide is included in every port at no extra cost: sometimes a half-day tour, sometimes a full-day tour with lunch, or port shuttles. Most beverages are included, including specialty coffees, wine, beer and cocktails; some premium drinks carry an additional charge. Onboard languages are Japanese and English.
Most 2027 from-fares on the page are labeled per person, but two sailings (Busan & Southern Japan in Bloom, and Silver Week Japan Coastal Voyage) are labeled per suite. Confirm the fare basis for your specific sailing with the line before comparing prices, and treat every from-fare as a starting point, not a quote.
