Windstar Debuts New All-Suite Yacht

On Monday, May 5, luxury cruise line Windstar Cruises christened its new all-suite luxury yacht, Star Pride, in Barcelona, Spain. The ship’s maiden voyage will take her through Spain, France, and Italy.

“Star Pride is the first of the three small luxury cruise ships added to the Windstar yacht fleet, and it leads the way as Windstar enters a new era of small ship cruising,” said Hans Birkholz, chief executive officer of Windstar Cruises.

Before its debut, the Star Pride underwent a thorough transformation, in which all of the yacht’s public spaces, suites, and dining venues were given a more elegant and contemporary sheen. Stylish updates included new luxury appointments like furnishings, upholstery, lighting, wall coverings, carpeting, window treatments, and floor coverings. Star Pride also includes Windstar’s new Destination Suites, each of which showcase a signature Windstar destination, complete with cultural décor and local art work.

Following the luxury yachts maiden voyage, Star Pride will spend its summer season in the Mediterranean. Sails include a 7-day cruise through the Black Sea, a 9-day cruise from Athens to Istanbul, and a 9-day cruise from Athens to Venice.

Star Pride is the first of three new identical luxury yachts to join the Windstar fleet. Star Breeze will begin its maiden voyage on May 6, 2015, from Nice, France, while Star Legend, will make its inaugural voyage on May 25, 2015, from Rome, Italy.
