Viking River Cruises Adds 12 Ships

Luxury river cruise line expands fleet for 2015

Viking River Cruises has said it will add 12 new river cruise ships to its fleet for 2015. The new fleet will include 10 Viking Longships and two smaller vessels for exclusive sails on the Elbe River. With the addition of these ships, luxury river cruise company fleet will total 64.

The 190-passenger Viking Longships first debuted in 2012, and the new vessels will continue to feature its indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace, a variety of staterooms (including Explorer Suites and French balcony staterooms), and its unique off-center corridor design.

The two new ships – 98-passenger Viking Astrild and Viking Beyla – will ply the Elbe River, and although the vessels are smaller they can better navigate the shallower waters then the larger Longships.
