Habsburg descendant, Princess Anita von Hohenberg, to christen Maria Theresa

Maria Theresa, the upcoming ship from Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection, will be christened by Princess Anita von Hohenberg, a direct descendant of the vessel’s namesake.

The 155-passenger ship will be the third in Uniworld’s class of Super Ships (joining the Catherine – pictured above – and the Antoinette), and is due to enter service in late March. It will begin sailing the line’s “Tulips and Windmills” itinerary between Amsterdam and Antwerp.

Maria Theresa, the archduchess of Austria and the Queen of Hungary and Croatia, ruled the Habsburg Empire from 1740-1780. Anita von Hohenberg is also the great-granddaughter of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria (whose assassination in 1914 is regarded to have sparked World War I) and Duchess Sophie von Hohenberg.
