Luxury cruise line to explore more than 50 exotic ports

Holland America has announced it will offer the most in-depth luxury cruise excursion in South America from fall 2014 through spring 2015. The luxury cruise line will deploy four ships in the region – ms Statendam, ms Maasdam, ms Prinsendam, and ms Zaandam – to sail 20 voyages around the continent ranging in length from 14 to 68 days. The ships will explore 50 remote and exotic ports, as well as take in awe-inspiring scenery along the way.

“South America is a big draw for cruisers because it is the most diverse continent in the world with extreme climates, dramatic landscapes and fantastic touring opportunities,” said Richard Meadows, Holland America Line’s executive vice president of sales, marketing and guest programs.

Sailings include a 28-day “Amazon and Carnaval Explorer”, which visits Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in time for the annual celebration; a 68-day “South America and Antarctica” voyage, which circles the continent; and a 14-day “South America Passage”, which sails around Cape Horn to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Ship departure ports include Vancouver, San Diego, and Valparaiso.
