Costa Cruises debuts Luminosa in the Caribbean

Costa Cruises’ largest ship to date has arrived. The 2,260-passenger Costa Luminosa arrived in Miami in early December to sail 10-day Caribbean cruises through March 17.

Luminosa’s itineraries from Miami call in Nassau or Freeport, Bahamas; Grand Turk or Princess Cays, Turks and Caicos; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Roatan, Honduras; and Cozumel, Mexico.

The ship itself features 1,310 staterooms and 106 suites, nearly 70 percent of which have balconies. Luminosa’s grand, two-level spa houses a fitness area, a thalassotherapy pool, a sauna, a Turkish bath, a UVA-ray solarium, and treatment and recovery rooms. In addition, 52 staterooms and four suites offer direct access to the Samsara Spa, thanks to a private elevator.

Guests on the ship can dine at four restaurants and a chocolate bar, as well as enjoy 11 bars. For entertainment, guests have their pick of a three-level theater, a casino, a 4-D cinema, a Grand Prix racing simulator, three pools, outdoor jogging and roller skating tracks, a disco, and a poolside movie screen. A children’s program is also offered for the little ones.
