Virgin Cruises will be the first major cruise line to start up from scratch in nearly 20 years

Virgin Group has announced that it will enter the cruise industry, starting a new cruise line from scratch.

In a statement, Virgin announced plans to build two “World-class” ships for Virgin Cruises, though neither a start date for the line nor the size of the vessels have yet been announced.

The startup will be the first major cruise line to be created from scratch with newbuilds since Disney Cruise Line entered the industry nearly 20 years ago.
