Passengers formerly landed at the port via tender
The Alaska cruise port of Icy Strait Point has announced plans to construct a new pier for cruise ships.
Up to this point, cruise visitors have landed at the port via tender.
Construction on the new pier is expected to begin next spring and finish by mid-August, in time for the tail end of the Alaska cruise season.
Next year, the port expects to receive 75 cruise ship calls.
