Celebrity Launches New Excursions in the Galapagos

Celebrity Cruises will introduce new shore excursions for its luxury cruises when it sails to the Galapagos Islands between June 2014 and December 2015. The new experiences range from dining on authentic cuisine prepared by locals to contributing to the protected islands by giving new life to native trees.

The Galapagos experiences include dining on local fare at a family’s farm in the lush highlands of Santa Cruz, Galapagos; joining Celebrity’s naturalists in a reforestation project with the goal to plant 5,000 Scalesia trees (the first-ever of project of its kind conducted by a cruise line with the Galapagos National Park); and collaborating with farmers and fishermen for onboard menus featuring such regional dishes as Ecuadorian ceviche, roasted fish, soups, and desserts.

The new experiences are included when sailing onboard Celebrity Xpedition, in addition to the Galapagos itinerary that features daily naturalist-led lectures and excursions of the untouched islands, its highlands, and beaches. The luxury cruises range from 7- to 15-night sailings.
