The Island of Mykonos

Discover the unique character of this Greek island

Spring and fall are the least crowded times of year to visit busy Mykonos, Greece.
Mykonos, Greece is likely to surprise many a traveler. Instead of a quiet island with meandering fishermen, this Greek island offers exciting nightlife and wild modern culture, mixed with bits of the past.

Classic Attractions
The must-visit draw of Mykonos (and an excursion almost ubiquitously available to cruisers) is a trip to the nearby island of Delos, a UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site that was the sacred center of the Cyclades. For more of Mykonos’ past, visit the pretty church of Panayia Paraportiani, along with tiny and peaceful red-domed chapels around the island. Some cruises also offer tours of the island that stop at the unspoiled village of Ano Mera.

Modern Mykonos
Mykonos Town is the center of island activity, with a raging nightlife scene. Visit during the day for a quieter experience, wandering the narrow and picturesque streets lined with blue doors and pink bougainvillea. Watch the sunset from Little Venice to get a taste of local life on the island. The island is also home to superb, if crowded, beaches.
