New Bordeaux Itineraries from Uniworld

Uniworld will launch two itineraries traversing the region in 2014

In France\’s Bordeaux region, visit Pauillac, the oldest wine area of the region and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection will extend its reach to Bordeaux, France,  with the addition of two new itineraries in the region. Guests on all Uniworld cruises will also benefit from newly added inclusions from the company.

The two itineraries are the eight-day Bordeaux, Vineyards & Chateaux cruise and the 15-day Portrait of Majestic France trip. Both itineraries include the three rivers of Aquitaine – the Garonne, the Gironde, and the Dordogne.

Guests will sail onboard the 132-passenger River Royale, which was remodeled last year. Highlights of the itinerary include some of the Aquitaine region’s most prestigious chateaux, as well as Pauillac, the oldest wine area of the Bordeaux region and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city of Bordeaux has a long history that began in 300 B.C. The Romans introduced wine in the region, which is still known for its distinctive cuisine. In celebration of that legacy, Uniworld passengers will be treated to a regional meal by Master Chef Philippe Etchebest, owner of the two Michelin-starred Hostellerie de Plaisance in Saint-Emilion. There will also be wine tastings at Chateau d’Arsac and a Saint-Emillion wine estate, as well as an onboard oyster tasting.

On the 15-day itinerary, guests sail from Paris to Bordeaux with the addition of a roundtrip Paris cruise on the River Baroness. The Paris cruise takes in Giverny, the Normandy Beaches, Rouen, Honfleur, and Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, before guests transfer to Bordeaux on the high-speed TGV train to reach the River Royale.
