Sure, the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort is a vacation destination in and of itself, but that doesn’t mean you should miss the opportunity to visit the sought-after resort simply because you only have one day in port. Most cruise lines offer day excursions to Atlantis, and with activities for all ages, it’s sure to be a hit among the entire family. Spend the day with the kids at the Atlantis Aquaventure; featuring a host of different swimming areas, a lazy river, and waterslides (plunge down a tube through a shark habitat) or visit the marine habitat. The vast property also features a highly rated golf course, casino, and many exceptional restaurants.

Diving & Snorkeling

Brimming with abundant marine life (and even swimming pigs!), the Bahamas is the ideal location for both offshore snorkeling and deep water diving. From sharks to sea turtles, the reefs that lie under the crystal Caribbean waters are some of the best in the world.  There are plenty of boat tours such as Bay West Adventures and Exuma Water Sports that will take you out for the day.

If you’re stopping at Grand Bahama, saddle up and take a trail ride through nature. Pass through a pine forest, over dunes, and along the beach. Most tours tell the history of Freeport from the early days of the Lucayan people, pirates and Junkanoo. Enjoy the beautiful sights of nature and panoramic views of the coastline before a refreshing gallop through the sea.

Tank Certified Shark Dive

Adrenaline enthusiasts, this is your opportunity to get up close to the Caribbean Reef Sharks. From the dive shop, guests are taken to one of four dive locations for a two-tank certified dive. Swimming with sharks in a non-feeding environment will be the first dive, while the second dive puts you on a large sand patch in a semi-circle as feed sharks off a long pole. Most of the 5-6-foot sharks are within touching distance of the divers.

Bahama Beaches

Boasting some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the Bahamas is the perfect place for immersion in islandology, and most beaches are conveniently located close to the cruise port in Nassau. One of our favorite beaches is Blue Lagoon. The private island is brimming with an aqua park, slides and even dolphin encounters. Cable Beach is an ideal spot for sunbathing and swimming, not only is it less crowded than most other beaches, but the surf is generally calm. Finally, Coral Harbour Beach, lined with palms, is the perfect place to dig your toes in the sand and unwind. Horseback riding is also available from Coral Harbour Beach.
