A transoceanic cruise might just be the most stylish way to travel between continents. After all, you’ll be treated to comfortable accommodations, luxurious amenities, entertainment, and fine dining – especially on this 18-night journey aboard Holland America Line’s recently enhanced ms Veendam, where an Atlantic crossing is an adventure all its own.

Along the Journey – Ports of Call
What could be better than finishing up a European vacation – only to begin a cruise! Board the ship in Amsterdam to set sail on your transatlantic journey. First up is a stop in Invergordon, Scotland, to search for mythical beasts in Loch Ness. In the Shetland Islands, a 200-year-old castle is among the attractions. Next up as you continue across the ocean is amazing Iceland, with stops in the fishing village of Djupivogur, the arctic settlement of Heimaey, and vibrant capital of Reykjavik.

Continue on to Qaqortoq, Greenland, where 85 percent of the area is under ice! The icy theme is carried through to Newfoundland, where a stop in St. Anthony offers sightings of icebergs and whales. Colorful St. John’s – North America’s oldest city – is the next stop, before leaving Newfoundland and heading toward the gorgeous landscape of Bar Harbor, Maine. Your journey ends in Boston, for a taste of American history and the conclusion of the cruise.

As You Sail – Onboard Amenities
Spacious comfort and Signature of Excellence amenities are the hallmarks of any cruise on the Veendam. Life at sea revolves around elegant dining rooms, wide teak decks, and enrichment opportunities. During your downtime, browse the $2 million art and antique collection onboard, or take a Digital Workshop powered by Windows – free, enjoyable sessions on digital photography, videos, scrapbooking, blogging, and social networking.

Veendam’s roomy accommodations are available in five categories, including the new Lanai staterooms, with doors that open directly onto the teak Promenade deck. Peaceful bliss awaits in spa staterooms, which offer special spa amenities, while Verandah Suites treat guests to lavish features like a whirlpool bath and floor-to-ceiling windows. And for something truly special, book the Neptune Suites or Pinnacle Suites, which come with access to an exclusive lounge, a luxurious amount of space, priority boarding and dining, and many other lavish extras.
