On the ultra-luxurious ship’s first visit to the States, we snapped photos of the onboard features that make it so special

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ ultra-luxury Europa 2 is one of the newest vessels at sea – as well as one of the most lavish. Launched in May of 2013, the ship visited the United States for the first time this month, docking in New York City and offering Luxury Cruise News a glimpse of its onboard elegance.

The ship is one of only two 5-star-plus ships in the world (the other is Hapag-Lloyd’s Europa), and what we saw onboard lives up to the distinction. In addition to its spacious design and incredible attention to detail (examples of which can be seen in the photos below), the all-suite ship is all about delivering a luxury experience filled with personal choice and impeccable service.

Onboard Europa 2, guests will find Hapag-Lloyd’s interpretation of modern cruising. The line has cut traditional habits such as the Captain’s Dinner, and focuses instead on choice of dining, entertainment, shore experiences, and more. And while the ship is capable of carrying up to 500 passengers, it rarely sails at full capacity, and has the greatest space per passenger ratio of any cruise ship today.
