Exciting Excursions in Cuba

If you’re heading to Cuba on your next cruise, make sure you experience the best excursions so that you create lasting memories. Luckily, there’s a lot to see and do, no matter what your interests are. Check out our favorite excursions and start outlining your Cuba itinerary today.

Take an Old Havana Walking Tour

We recommend taking a walking tour of Old Havana to really experience all the city has to offer. As you make your way down the cobblestone streets, you’ll learn all about the city’s history and culture from a local guide. This is a great way to introduce yourself to the area when you first get off the cruise ship, and you’ll learn more than you would have on your own.

Visit a Cigar Factory

For many, the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Cuba is its famous cigars.  Visiting a cigar factory is a great experience since you can watch how cigars are made as the workers roll each cigar by hand. You can also learn what sets a good cigar apart from a bad one.

Experience Cuba’s Best Eats

If you’re a foodie, you’re going to want to try all the best Cuban dishes—or at least sample a few of them! When you take part in a food tour, you can experience the country’s best eats. Make sure to try an authentic Cuban sandwich; Ropa Vieja – which is a favorite shredded meat dish – and Chicharritas de platano – thin fried plantain chips. Once you get a sample of the food here, you’ll never want to leave.

Drive a Vintage Car

You’ve seen the postcard photos of the classic, vintage cars in Old Havana. But, did you know that you can drive one? Some companies rent out convertibles and other classic cars so that you can drive around Cuba in style. This is a great chance to take advantage of some excellent photo shots, too.

Check with your cruise line to see what tours and excursions you can book in advance. No matter what activities you choose to enjoy while in Cuba, we have a feeling that you will fall in love with this destination.

Here are some top reasons why you’ll want to book a cruise that departs from the Port of Baltimore.

Ships Head to Many Destinations

Part of the excitement of planning a cruise is deciding where you want to go. When you port from Baltimore, you’ll have several destination options. You can cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Canada, or New England.

10 Miles from BWI Airport

If you’re not planning to drive to Baltimore and aren’t a local, we recommend flying into BWI since flights in and out of the airport are frequent and plentiful. Once you land, the Port of Baltimore is only 10 miles away, making it easy to get to where you need to go. Shuttles are available to take you directly from the airport, which is also convenient.

Royal Caribbean and Carnival have some excellent cruise options. Here are some of our favorites:
