Seattle-based luxury cruise line Seabourn has named seasoned hospitality executive Chris Austin as Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing. In the role, Austin will be responsible for Seabourn’s overall marketing efforts, brand management, sales, and public relations.
“Chris is a perfect fit to lead our global sales and marketing efforts during a period where we are expanding our fleet and overall capacity,” said Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn. “He is passionate about people, which is vital from a guest and trade relations standpoint. Moreover, his significant experience in the luxury travel category will help us further expand our leadership position in the ultra-luxury travel segment.”
Prior to joining Seabourn, Chris spent the past 30 years of his career with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, most recently serving as Vice President, Global Leisure, Luxury & TMC Sales. During the time with Starwood, in addition to his executive roles, he held a number of property-based positions in food and beverage, banqueting and catering, as well as various sales roles.
Chris will start in January 2017 and will relocate from Miami to Seattle, which is the home of Seabourn’s corporate offices.

Seabourn, one of the finest ultra-luxury cruise lines, has unveiled the first images of its newest all-suite vessel, Seabourn Encore (pictured left) that launched in Marghera, Italy, on December 1.
Designed by hospitality design icon Adam D. Tihany, the 40,350-GRT vessel features modern design elements and innovations in keeping with Seabourn’s reputation for understated elegance. Guests of Seabourn Encore will be treated to the line’s extraordinary levels of personalized service, with a high staff to guest ratio.
The ship carries only 600 guests who will reside in 300 suites each with a private verandah. A sister ship, Seabourn Ovation, will join the fleet in 2018.
Seabourn Encore will be officially christened at a ceremony in Singapore on January 7, 2017. She will go on to spend her maiden season sailing the Pacific Rim in Australia and New Zealand, before returning to Europe in April 2017 to spend summer along the Mediterranean.
