Continuing Holland America Line’s commitment to offer an exceptional food and beverage experience, DeGroff — known as “King Cocktail,” author of two best-selling cocktail books and founding president of The Museum of the American Cocktail — has developed a drink menu to showcase artfully prepared signature classics as well as some unique originals.

“For many guests, there’s nothing better than relaxing with a well-made, unique cocktail after a long day of sightseeing or before dinner, and adding a master mixologist to our team gives us the diversity we seek in creating the most robust food and beverage program at sea,” said Orlando Ashford, Holland America Line’s president. “We’re excited to welcome the talents of Dale DeGroff to our family, and we know our guests are going to enjoy his innovative creations.”

DeGroff’s signature cocktails will be served in the Gallery Bar, introduced on ms Eurodam following a December 2015 drydock, and in other shipboard bars and lounges, including Ocean Bar, Explorer’s Lounge, Crow’s Nest and Tamarind Bar, as well as more casual outlets such as the Lido pool bar.

DeGroff’s cocktail menu includes the Gallery Gimlet, Hemingway Daiquiri, Yuzu Margarita, The Ritz Cocktail, Whiskey and Joe, Another Shade of Greyhound, and a “Slightly Less Than Perfect” Perfect Manhattan. In addition to creating exclusive cocktails for all Holland America Line bars, DeGroff also will oversee staff training to ensure his signature cocktails will be crafted to perfection.

DeGroff developed skills, techniques and expertise while tending bar for three decades at various notable establishments including New York’s famous Rainbow Room. He has received the James Beard Award for Wine & Spirits, was inducted into the prestigious James Beard Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America in 2015 and is author of The Essential Cocktail and The Craft of the Cocktail. Luxury Small Ship Seabourn Sets Return to Alaska

seabourn_alaska

Seabourn has announced its plan to return to “The Great Land” of Alaska beginning in 2017. Responding to
high guest demand and having not deployed a ship there for 15 years, Seabourn Sojourn will offer a series of 11-, 12-
and 14-day itineraries sailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, and Anchorage (Seward), Alaska.

Seabourn will offer unique voyages combining Alaska’s most popular ports with rarely visited hidden gems of the Inside Passage. Taking advantage of Seabourn Sojourn’s intimate size and nimble maneuverability, guests will enjoy a privileged view of The Last Frontier that larger ships cannot access.

Itineraries include visits to iconic sites, such as the towering virgin forests along the Inside Passage; the
thunderous calving of glaciers and impressive humpback whales breaching in the Kenai Fjords; Juneau, the state
capital, inaccessible by road; Ketchikan, the southernmost and arguably most-colorful town in the state; and Sitka,
whose Tlingit history traces back 10,000 years.

Interspersed will be visits to unspoiled hideaways such as Alert Bay, British Columbia, a tiny Namgis First Nations
community offering rare insights into the region’s aboriginal cultures; and Klemtu, a small island outpost in
the Inside Passage.

In spots such as Misty Fjords and the Tracy Arm, guests will be able explore wildlife-rich waterways, forested mountain vistas and lacy waterfalls up close via Ventures by Seabourn, an innovative optional program of Zodiac and kayak excursions led by Seabourn Sojourn’s expedition team of naturalists, science, wildlife and historical experts. The same expedition team will be on hand on deck, pointing out, interpreting and enhancing desirable locations.

In addition, each of the new 11-, 12- and 14-day cruises will include complimentary Seabourn all-weather jackets;
inspiring Seabourn Conversations with special on board guest speakers; opportunities for frequent wildlife sightings
from the ship and shore; and a “Caviar on the Ice” deck party and other special deck events.
